[DRAFT] Different Fate of Lionfishes
Lionfish - this elegant creature is native to tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, but you could see them outside these Oceans. They have very different fate depend on where did they born.
Lionfish were introduced in mid-1980s off the coast of Florida due to releases from aquariums to the ocean. Since then, they spread out along American Atlantic coast, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and their populations have swelled dramatically in the past years.
Lionfish is a predator, it aggressively preys on small fish and invertebrates. Since they are not native fish in those places meaning they are not supposed to be in those water to begin with, there are not much natural predators on lionfish to keep the balance of the ecosystems. Hence, they are classed as "invasive species" in those water since they severely threaten the well being of coral reefs and other marine ecosystems.
